Top Story: Using Multiphoton Microscopy to See Chromosomes in Action - [Newswise] Using multiphoton fluorescence microscopy, a technique pioneered at Cornell by physicist Watt W. Webb, researchers have for the first time been able to watch chromosomes change their form in order to activate their genes to synthesize key proteins in fruit fly cells. The advance could be a significant step toward understanding the basic processes that underlie gene expression.

Top Story: China Rolls Out Next Generation Internet - [Yahoo News] The China Education and Research Network 2 has linked up 167 institutes and departments at 25 universities in 20 cities through the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), China Central Television reported. The new protocol can work at speeds of between 2.5 gigabytes to 10 gigabytes of information per second, 100 times faster than current Internet speeds, according to the report.

The surge in percentage of employed "retirees" will only continue, according to predictions, as the Baby Boomer generation heads towards retirement age, but doesn't plan to retire.

Top Story: Kuwait to Buy Large Stake in IPO of Chinese Bank - [International Herald Tribune] Kuwait said Sunday that it would be among the top investors in Industrial & Commercial Bank of China as the oil-rich state seeks closer ties to China, the world's fastest-growing major economy. The state-owned Kuwait Investment Authority will buy shares in the bank valued at $720 million, according to the bank's prospectus, making it the largest single subscriber in what is expected to be the world's biggest initial public offering.
