The Mind Map Book: Radiant Thinking
by Tony Buzan and Barry Buzan

London: BBC Books, 1993

The Mind Map Book: Radiant Thinking may be the most important book published this century for anyone who wishes to use his or her brain to its full potential. It is the only book that both explains the fundamental operation of the human brain in terms of its thinking processes and explains how to unleash and harness its untapped power.

The Mind Map Book: Radiant Thinking is a comprehensive guide to Mind Maps®, a revolutionary method of accessing intelligence, developed over many years by Tony Buzan and his brother Barry. Mind Mapping is relevant to absolutely everyone, as the technique offers exciting new ways of using and improving memory, concentration and creativity in planning and structuring thought on all levels. This special revised edition celebrates the 21st Birthday of the formal introduction of Mind Maps to the world by the BBC and the author in the spring of 1974.

A key goal for all individuals, especially those in business and education communities, is to accelerate their ability to learn, remember and record information. A Mind Map's radiating structure, reflecting the natural architecture of the brain, allows rapid expansion and exploration of an idea in note form, resulting in a clear and concise picture or map of all the relevant interlinked points for inclusion in further written matter, presentations and reports. Thus, an idea can be quickly and profoundly explored while simultaneously maintaining clear focus on the central theme. By incorporating the use of shapes, colours and dimensions as visual stimulants, the Mind Mapping technique allows you to make the best use of all your considerable mental resources.

The Mind Map Book is destined to become a classic in the new and exciting field of Radiant Thinking. In addition to helping you to maximize your brain power, the book also features a range of stimulating exercises and a lavish and inspirational collection of photographs and original Mind Maps which illustrate the technique.

Tony Buzan is the originator of Mind Maps® , the President of The Brain Foundation, Founder of The Brain Trust and the Use Your Head Clubs, and the creator of the concept of Mental Literacy.

Born in London in 1942, Tony Buzan graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1964, achieving double Honours in Psychology, English, Mathematics and the General Sciences. In 1966 he worked for the Daily Telegraph in Fleet Street, and edited the International Journal of MENSA (the high IQ society).

As one of the world's leading authors, he has published 20 books (19 on the brain, creativity and learning and one volume of poetry). His books (which include: Use Your Head, Use Your Memory, Make the Most of Your Mind, Speed Reading, Buzan's Book of Genius and Mental World Records and Get Ahead) have now been published in fifty countries and translated into twenty languages. His classic BBC Book Use Your Head has surpassed worldwide sales of a million.

Barry Buzan is Professor of International Studies at the University of Warwick, and a Research Director of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Research in the University of Copenhagen. He was also Chairman of the British International Studies Association 1988-90. He took his first degree at the University of British Columbia (1968), and his doctorate at the London School of Economics (1973). He has been extensively engaged in using and developing Mind Maps since 1970, and has been working with his brother on The Mind Map Book since 1981.
