Supply Chain Excellence: A Handbook for Dramatic Improvement Using the SCOR Model

by Peter Bolstorff and Robert Rosenbaum

New York: AMACOM, 2007

To have control over your supply chain -- establishing organizational buy-in, defining metrics and benchmarks, optimizing material and transactional flow, conducting relevant competitive analysis to define business opportunities -- you need a solid basis in widely accepted industry standards techniques that have been proven to work time and time again.

Developed by the Supply-Chain Council (SCC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing best practices in supply chain management, the DCOR, CCOR, and SCOR Models stand alone as the superior, cross-industry paradigms for achieving operational superiority. Now in a newly revised edition, Supply Chain Excellence is the first and only step-by-step guide to adopting all of these accepted and proven methodologies developed by the SCC.

Complete with a Value Chain Excellence project roadmap, the addition of the DCOR and CCOR process frameworks, and the new case studies. Supply Chain Excellence  gives you all the practical tools you need, whether you’re trying to improve the performance of an existing supply chain system or implement a new one.

The book gives you practical strategies for educating the enterprise, gaining internal support, establishing the metrics that will determine the project’s level of success, and aligning strategy, materials, work, and information flow. In addition, the book now includes new case studies and chapters on value chain management.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Gain support and build confidence by educating the enterprise about supply chain improvement.
  • Conduct the proper competitive analysis to define business opportunities along the supply chain.
  • Meet financial commitments and achieve significant return on investment.
  • Implement changes to achieve sustainable competitive advantage.
  • And much more.

A complete handbook for achieving total supply chain success, Supply Chain Excellence is a concise, practical instruction manual to doing supply chain correctly.
