Collins Atlas of the Night Sky
by Storm Dunlop

New York: Collins, 2005

Collins Atlas of the Night Sky covers everything that is visible in both the northern and southern hemispheres, and is suitable for amateur and experienced astronomers alike.

The whole of the sky is covered in a series of stunning star maps, illustrated to a revealing magnitude of 6.5, with accompanying text detailing everything that can be seen. Each of the 88 constellations is illustrated with charts to a magnitude of 7.5, that have been specially commissioned for this project, making use of the latest data available. There is also planetary information for the next five years, and details of where in the sky the major planets can be seen, and at what time.

With comprehensive, original maps of the Moon's surface and details of craters and other named features, this is the definitive night sky atlas for every astronomer.

Storm Dunlop is an author and translator, specializing in the physical sciences. He has published a number of highly successful titles with Collins, including How to Identify the Night Sky, Wild Guide Night Sky and Collins Star Finder Pack. A fellow of both the Royal Astronomical Society and the Royal Meteorological Society, he is well recognized throughout the world as an authority in these fields. He has given lectures and talks on all aspects of astronomy and meteorology to a wide range of groups and societies.

Wil Tirion is the world's leading uranographer, and his charts have appeared in astronomy books all over the globe. He has worked on a number of titles with Storm Dunlop.

Antonin Rukl is widely considered to be one of the world's leading lunar cartographers. He has had numerous books published, including the highly acclaimed Atlas of the Moon.
