Fred Krupp, president of Environmental Defense Fund, is a pioneer in the use of market forces to achieve ambitious environmental goals. His achievements run from strengthening the Clean Air Act to making the biggest corporate buyout in history, that of the Texas utility TXU, contingent on climate action. He has advised presidents and partnered with DuPont, FedEx, GE, McDonald's, and Wal-Mart. He and his wife live in Connecticut and have three sons.
Miariam Horn, now on staff at Environmental Defense Fund, has worked for the U.S. Forest Service and written for numerous newspapers and magazines, including Vanity Fair and the New York Times. She is the author of Rebels in White Gloves: Coming of Age with Hillary's Class -- Wellesley '69. She lives in New York City with her husband and daughter.
